Shweta was born and raised in New Delhi, India and moved to the US to pursue her doctorate in 2005. She cut her teeth in social justice movements for Palestine, nuclear disarmament and actions against US imperialist wars in Afghanistan while in India. She considers it her life’s work to fight for social justice wherever life, immigration, and capitalism will place her. In that vein, she serves as Research Director at Race Forward. She credits her work as a community organizer with Asians for Black Lives Matter PDX, volunteering with APANO and doing research justice work in Portland and Oregon in building her political and movement analysis. She loves relaxing by video-chatting with her community in different parts of the world, force-cuddling her dog, Mellow Dorai and laughing to radical social justice stand-up comics such as Hari Kondabolu and Aamer Rehman.
