Apply for the 2nd Climate, Health, and Housing Institute (CHHI) Fellowship!

APANO is proud to announce our 2nd Climate, Health, and Housing Institute (CHHI) will be starting September 15, 2018. In order to build a vibrant movement for social justice, we need to be developing Asian and Pacific Islander leaders who understand some of the root causes--as well as collective strategies to fight --- the problems facing our communities.

What is the Climate, Health, and Housing Institute (CHHI)?

The CHHI is a 6-month institute, in which we will collectively explore the interconnections between the forces driving gentrification, health disparities, and the climate crisis, and learn about ways to organize and advocate for justice in our communities.

Our goal is to continue to build a cohort of strong API community leaders with an understanding of environmental justice issues, as well as strategies to fight for systemic change.

The CHHI Fellowship will run for 6 months and is intended for Asians and Pacific Islanders in Oregon. Through participation in this program, CHHI Fellows will:

Build a collective analysis on the connections between and root causes of the housing crisis, climate change and community health.

Gain skills and experiences to organize and advocate for healthier, more resilient, and equitable neighborhoods.

Deepen relationships with other Asian and Pacific Islanders with similar values and vision.

Join with other Fellows to lead a Community Action Project related to an issue of climate, health, or housing justice.

To participate in the program, CHHI Fellows are expected to attend 5 workshop sessions, as well as participate in a Community Action Project (estimated 10-15 hours total) with other CHHI Fellows. All sessions will be held at or near the APANO office [2788 SE 82nd Ave, Suite 203] in SE Portland.
