Vietnamese Parent Meeting, November 12th
APANO's work is dedicated to ensuring equal rights for our communities and strengthening English language learning for our children. We worked closely as a partner with Portland Public Schools (PPS) around creating the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion program with the Vietnamese Community of Oregon (VNCO), and creating the best educational experience for your child.
We would like to invite you and your family to our district wide Vietnamese Parent Meeting on November 12, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm at the Jade/APANO Multi-cultural Space (8114 SE Division St., Portland, OR 97206). The goal of this meeting is to hear from you about your experiences with your child’s school. We will also address the value of parent engagement, parent rights, the astounding benefits of Dual Language Immersion, and introduce Portland Public School’s Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Van Troung. Van will talk about her role in the district, and in particular, the value of your voice in PPS.
Portland Public Schools and APANO want to hear from you. As parents, you are the expert on your child and know what is working and what is not. We need your feedback on what you would like to see in schools in order to constantly improve the delivery of educational services to your child. We hope you can join us!
