Any downsides to getting rooftop solar?
Your savings often remain net positive! Savings may vary across seasons, with much lower utility bills during summer and similar-to-current bills during winter.
Any downsides to solar are about installation, and ongoing inspection and maintenance like any other home appliance.
During installation, power may need to be turned off for 2-4 hours each day. Construction on attic and roof will involve power tools and cause noise.
System inspection is recommended every 5 years with a cost per site visit. Damage and repairs to system will cost money. Homeowners are responsible for keeping the array free of debris for high performance and to reduce pest risk.
Do I need to pay anything for a rooftop solar system with APANO?
APANO covers the costs of your home’s site preparation as well as equipment and installation of a 9-panel rooftop solar system. If you want a larger solar system, you can pay for more panels through the contractor based on the feasibility of your roof. Ongoing maintenance of your rooftop solar system may entail two service visits at $225 equal to $45 per year within a 10 year period.
How do I maintain my solar system?
Keep the solar array free of debris such as leaves and branches to maintain performance and reduce pest risks. A thorough cleaning is recommended after 10 years, which Upliftic Energy can provide at cost.
A system inspection is recommended every 5 years, which Upliftic Energy currently charges at $225 per site visit if not related to warranty work.
The system’s inverter is expected to need replacement at least once over the lifetime of your solar system, which currently costs $1,200-$1,500 if occurring outside the 10-year workmanship warranty or 12-year manufacturer warranty.
