In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, APANO worked with local artist Alex Chiu to highlight the faces and stories of APANO members who are helping build a more just and equitable world. APANO members were nominated and eight portraits were painted to represent these “Voices of Change” deeply engaged in each of our core program areas: Policy and Civic Engagement, Leadership Development, Cultural Work, and Organizing. Selected members sat down for a custom portrait and responded to the question: Why is the program in which you are involved important to you? Their responses were recorded and highlights were captured within each portrait.
