Join us for our inaugural "Eat Up" series leading up to the Jade District Night Market this year! APANO is teaming up with local food entrepreneurs who will share personal stories, how their culture influenced and inspired them, and their learnings, challenges, and successes. The series will explore food entrepreneurship from three pathways: packaged foods, brick and mortar locations and culinary chef experience.

A Food Production How-To
Up first! A casual evening discussion with Matt Choi, co-owner of Choi’s Kimchi, a food processing company based in Oregon and Jason Ball, former chef and currently Faculty Research Assistant and Culinary Project Manager of Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center. Matt and Jason will talk about producing a family recipe to sell to the public, Farmer’s Markets, as well as scaling up to meet demand, food safety, costs and resources. They'll also be whipping up some Kimchi Fried Rice to share with you all!

Learnings about how to find and finance a retail location
Come to the second in APANO’S series with Prak Khou, co-owner of Coco Donuts, with six locations across Portland, and Robin Wang, Executive Director of Ascent Funding, a local non-profit that offers business loans and capital advisory services to minority and women-owned business. The evening will feature a casual talk about finding a retail location, setting the business up, selling donuts and financing the business. Includes a small bite!

A Night with Chef Carlo
Stories, tasting and community with acclaimed Chef Carlo
Finally join us for an evening with Chef Carlo Lamagna, graduate of the Culinary Institue of America, and owner of the soon to open MAGNA at 2nd and Clinton in SE Portland. The event will feature a cooking demonstration and personal stories from Chef Carlo followed by bites from an open grill.
