Short Term Strategies for 2025

To advance our mission, we are prioritizing these work areas:

  1. Community Rights & Resources
  2. Capacity & Activation
  3. Coalition Research & Advocacy
  4. Organizational Processes & Compliance

Community Rights & Resources

Ensure community members are safe and know their rights

Strategies

  • Review & improve organizational data security
  • Resources, communications, and services are accessible, relevant, and available in-language
  • Address physical and pedestrian safety concerns
  • Direct focus on resources for groups that will be most affected by the upcoming administration (undocumented folks, trans community, etc.)
  • Focus on addressing key issues of housing, childcare, jobs, and small businesses

Tactics

  • Advocacy for traffic safety and other public safety measures for lighting, trainings, etc.
  • Community education workshops on rights, self defense
  • Job fair or info session for community members
  • Workforce navigation programming
  • Small business utility and rent support and education

Capacity & Activation

Build capacity and activate our base and funders

Strategies

  • Create Comms content and support APANO program work & use the momentum of volunteers and community members post election to take action and get politicized.
  • Establish giving programs that support local and sustainable economic models, including donations from individuals and businesses committed to social justice.
  • Develop a community centered fundraising approach that emphasizes collective well-being over individual profit.

Tactics

  • Call for collaborators (content creators/writers/artists/political volunteers/canvassers)
  • Develop Individual, Corporate, and Planned Giving programs at APANO tied to community empowerment
  • Bringing Donors to the community, highlighting local restaurants, artists for donor gifts, and organizations for volunteering
  • Ensure transparency in how donations are used to support community-driven solutions

Coalition Research & Advocacy

Collaborate with coalition partners - Research, build, & share analysis and resources

Strategies

  • Track needs, issues and opposition’s strategies
  • Maintaining accurate and timely information from elected leaders so that we can inform community members.
  • Resource share from coalitions (Comms current coalitions include: OJTA and Food 4 All)

Tactics

  • Read through Project 2025
  • Regular meetings with coalition partners (ex: OJTA, F4A)
  • Attending the regular convenings of elected leaders
  • Connect with other orgs around immigration/mass deportation information and resources - attorney general office can share about Oregon’s sanctuary status
  • Collaborating with other nonprofits aligned with values on fundraising strategies or support when requested

Organizational Processes & Compliance

Collaborate with program teams in strengthening financial and HR planning and documentation for CUF and AF.

  • Further integrate finance and HR policies and processes across organizations; including grant budgets, expense approvals and independent contractors.
