Voices of Change Keynote Speaker: Lisa Hasegawa
Our annual Voices of Change Celebration is next Thursday, May 7th and we're looking forward to celebrating the grand opening of the new APANO/Jade District Community Space as well as AAPI Heritage Month!
We're excited to introduce Lisa Hasegawa as this year's keynote speaker. Lisa Hasegawa is the Executive Director of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD), the first national advocacy organization dedicated to meeting the housing and community development needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. The mission of National CAPACD is to improve the quality of life for low-income Asian American and Pacific Islanders by promoting economic vitality, civic and political participation, and racial equity. National CAPACD is also the first and only AAPI-serving HUD housing counseling intermediary.
She currently serves on the Board of the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Executive Board of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans. Prior to joining National CAPACD, Lisa was the Community Liaison for the White House Initiative on AAPIs where she worked to involve and inform AAPI community groups across the country about Initiative activities. She also worked for the U.S. DHHS Health Resources and Services Administration and the Office of Minority Health. Lisa previously worked at two community health centers serving low-income AAPIs in Los Angeles and Oakland, California. She is a fourth generation Japanese American from California, and is a graduate Harvard School of Public Health.
