Liberation in Practice: Anti-Racism Workshops for APIHM

The flowers are blooming, the soil is warming, and I hope you and yours are finding time to enjoy the Spring. As Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage month approaches we are reaching out to you with gratitude and recognition.

We see you: standing in solidarity against Asian hate, working in solidarity with the Black community to demand police abolition, and supporting elders as they access the COVID-19 vaccine. We’ve never felt more grateful to be in community with you.

The path to liberation is not straight. There are many twists, turns, and unknowns; however, once your feet touch that path there is no other road to walk. Once you see the breath and breadth of co-liberation, there is no way to un-see truth.

While the path may be long, we find moments to pause and reflect. We create opportunities to sharpen the tools in our racial justice toolkits. May is such a time.

We are honored to present Liberation in Practice: Anti-Racism Workshops for Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month (A Resilience Series Deep Dive).

We have partnered with some of the world’s leading minds, who are deep in social justice work, kicking May off with these events:

Wednesday, 5/5/21 (5 – 7 PM) | Reconciling History & Social Locations What is race? What is racism? How do we confront racism in ourselves, in our communities, in society? | BIPOC only event

Wednesday, 5/12/21 (5 – 7 PM) | Radical Self-Awareness What is the model minority myth? How can we disrupt the weaponization and create a model minority mutiny? | BIPOC only event

Friday, 5/14/21 (Noon - 1:30 PM) | Celebrating Asian & Pacific Islander Resilience & Solidarity All audiences are welcome to learn about and celebrate Asian & Pacific Islander Resilience & Solidarity.

Liberation in Practice gatherings, just like Resilience Series gatherings, are for and by the BIPOC community. Our white allies and accomplices are welcomed to our event on Friday, May 14, 2021, A Celebration of Asian & Pacific Islander Resilience & Solidarity.

Nobody knows everything, but together we know a lot. There are many tools we need in our toolkits to bring to life the just, holistic, equitable, and empowering world we want to inhabit. I’m excited to dive deep with you all.
