Sign the Protect PCEF Pledge!

In 2018, APANO, and our partners at Verde, NAYA, NAACP, the Coalition of Communities of Color, Sierra Club, and 350PDX, worked on a ballot measure initiative to address climate change for our communities, recognizing that communities of color are those most impacted. In just 7 weeks, APANO staff and volunteers gathered signatures by talking to our family members, friends, and neighbors, and we proudly submitted 60,000 signatures in support of putting the Portland Clean Energy Fund on the November ballot. Voters overwhelmingly supported the Portland Clean Energy Fund, and it was a historic win for our communities, but now PCEF is under attack, and we need your help!

Last November, a ballot measure was introduced that would divert 25% of the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) resources away from climate action investments and toward police expansion. A broad coalition of community partners stepped into action alongside the Coalition of Communities of Color to stop this measure in court. We won, but our opponents won’t stop.

Now, the Portland Police Association and wealthy special interests are trying again. After filing a second ballot measure, they recently received approval to begin signature gathering in their attempt to raid PCEF.

We can’t allow climate and community investments to be stripped away.

Sign the Protect PCEF Pledge!

PCEF was passed by voters in 2018, receiving 65% of support to invest in climate action projects that support environmental justice and social, economic, and environmental benefits for all Portlanders.

This measure claims it will improve public safety, but taking critical funding away from projects that are building climate resilience and providing community-based investments is not the solution. And it won’t make us safer.

We’re asking community members and supporters of PCEF to reject “1PDX2026” and protect voter-approved climate action funds by only signing petitions you support. Sign the pledge today!

After you add your name, tell your friends and neighbors to join our efforts – together we can stop the raid on PCEF and ensure these dollars continue to play a transformative role in supporting climate action and resilience in our local communities.
